Measures of Student Achievement and Success

The school follows the guidelines set out in the OCDSB Policy and Procedures for Student Evaluation. Students demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways. They are challenged and are provided opportunities to express their knowledge through oral, visual and written assessment methods. Students are given feedback on their strengths and are coached and guided in their skill application using “hands on minds on” problem solving. Provincial EQAO testing at the grade 3 and grade 6 levels occurs in late spring with results available to parents, students and teachers in October of the next school year. EQAO results are used as one of many data sources for developing school learning plans.
PM Benchmarks at the primary level and CASI at the junior level are two examples of classroom reading assessment tools used to baseline student achievement. Teachers utilize this data to effectively structure classroom instruction to improve student learning.
